Back to School: Favorite Read Alouds

Can You believe that it is Back to School time ALREADY! No really! I feel like summer break just started, because technically it did! But I am here today to share with you some of my favorite books for back to school time! YAY!

1. Back to School Rules!

This story is a great introduction to rules in the classroom. You can use it to give students ideas about what they should be doing in the classroom. I absolutely love the illustrations and you can turn it into a writing assignment to get kids thinking about the rules.

2. How Full is your Bucket

This book is great to get kids thinking about being kind to one another. You can get them to come up with ways that they can be a "bucket filler" and refer back to it daily. Incentives can be given when you see them filling up someones bucket.

3. The Best Part of Me

I love this nonfiction story. The black and white pictures are amazing and kids talk about things that they like about themselves. This leads to a great  discussion about the kids and gives them the opportunity to talk about themselves and them to write for a great hallway display.

4. Pictures from our Summer Vacation

This is a good first week story to transition back from summer break. You could have students draw a picture to show one thing they did during their summer break.
